Wine Tasting

Wine Tasting

The Rotary Club of Rockport will hold one of its major fundraisers, our annual Wine Tasting at the new Shalin Liu Performance Center, on Saturday, October 6th. The event, from 5:00-7:30pm, will feature hors d'oeuvres and over 100 wines to sample. Tickets will be available from your favorite Rockport Rotarian, or from Susan Lovasco, President-Elect at 978-675-9921. Wines are provided by Seabreeze Liquors of Gloucester.

Rotary Support to the Community

The Wine Tasting is the one of several annual fundraisers held by The Rotary Club of Rockport. A wide variety of community projects and organizations benefit from the funds raised by Rotary annually. For example, the Rockport School Department receives support for several projects which include a scholarship program; funding for students to participate in curriculum related trips such as DECA; sponsoring local students to go to summer camp; donating books to the High School Library and dictionaries for classroom use.
The International Student Exchange Program is another activity that the Club supports. This year a Rockport student, Winnie Congdon, is participating in the Exchange Program spending the school year in Russie. The program is also providing funding for a reciprocal visit by Jonas Dill, a 16-year old from Germany who is now in Rockport and living with local host families.
Community works projects include painting the hearse house and the Veterans Memorial in front of the former Story Library, painting benches, cleaning up Nugent’s stretch, and clearing the Kieran Path. Some of the other activities that the Club supports are a Valentine’s Day Lunch for senior citizens, sponsoring and serving meals at Open Door. Support is given to the American Red Cross, Art Harbor of Cape Ann, Boy Scouts, Cape Ann Symphony, Cape Ann Youth Symphony, Camp Rotary, Pathways for Children, Rockport New Years Eve, Salvation Army Bell Ringing at the holiday season, the Teen Center, and the Thacher Island Association.
Rotary Club members represent a wide cross-section of the community's business and professional people. The Club’s commitment to service is borne out by the wide range of projects it supports.
